      <image:title>What to expect - What happens in the first session?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Therapy sessions are unique to the individual. During the first session we will be able to chat about your needs, make a plan for support and book in a number of sessions for you. Therapy sessions normally last 1 hour and are booked at the same time on the same day. These sessions can be weekly or fortnightly. It is important that you feel comfortable in the space, and we can review how sessions feel and whether we need to adapt anything to suit your needs. For children and young people, or anyone requiring some space to feel safe in the room, we can spend time exploring the room, and art materials (if appropriate) until it feels safe to engage.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>What is art therapy? Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy. It is a way of working with a trained professional to explore difficult feelings, behaviours and life experiences using artwork and the art-making process. Art therapy does not rely on talking alone. Using art materials can help someone to visually make sense of emotions or feelings that can feel difficult to put into words. Art therapy is not about being good at art and art-work is treated sensitively and not judged or critiqued.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>We also offer support to adults and children with ASD (Autism spectrum disorder) and ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.) Many individuals diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental condition or who may be querying a diagnosis can struggle to access traditional therapy approaches due to a lack of understanding of neurodiversity. We offer support that takes into account the needs of the individual and we are able to make adaptations to support your individual needs.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Art therapy - What are the benefits of using art therapy?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Sometimes what we are experiencing can be really hard to put into words. Using art materials can offer someone a different way to work through their difficulties and may help give them some perspective that talking therapy alone may not be able to. In art therapy there are a number of different materials that you can use. How you use the art materials is up to you. There will also be time for you and the art therapist to reflect on your work together to make sense of what you have created. Making artwork in the session can also: Reduce stress and anxiety Help you gain a better understanding of your emotions Increase your self-awareness and emotional insight Increase self-esteem through creativity</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/627e34b647758e000624f645/a5d91994-2bd1-47ef-8273-64a523c7bce2/PXL_20220610_092543219.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Art therapy - What if art therapy isn’t for me?</image:title>
      <image:caption>There is no pressure to make artwork in a session, and having a space to talk and reflect is absolutely fine. Therapy sessions can be structured around goals, and giving practical strategies to manage your mental health so that you feel in control of what you are struggling with. Talking therapy can be really helpful for anxiety, low mood, or individuals who may need support with day to day challenges.</image:caption>
